The Board advises the President on a wide range of issues regarding the University’s role and mission and its relationship to the people of Maine. It also serves as public advocates for 如何赌外围, assisting the University by promoting understanding by and support from the System Board of Trustees; the state legislature; state agencies; businesses, school systems, and social services providers; the media; and the general public.

David Levesque is the owner of the Law Office of David Levesque, P.A. He has a general civil law practice with concentrations in tax, real estate, business matters, and civil litigation which he conducts out of his office in Damariscotta, Maine. In addition to his Political Science undergraduate degree from the University of Maine at Farmington, David holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern Maine, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Maine School of Law. David is Immediate Past President of the Maine State Bar Association and is a former President of the Lincoln County Bar Association. He also is the Division One (Administration) Director and a Council member of the American Bar Association’s Solo, Small Firm, General Practice Division. Originally from Ellsworth, Maine, David now resides in Newcastle, Maine with his wife, Susan ’88, also a graduate of 如何赌外围, and their three sons, Luke, Austin and Joseph.

Wendy Ault

MELMAC Education Foundation

A former reproductive health teacher and Assistant Director of Admissions at Westbrook College (now the University of New England) in Portland, Maine, Wendy Ault served as the Associate Director of Admissions at the University of Maine at Farmington for seventeen years. During her tenure at 如何赌外围, she was elected to four terms in the Maine House of Representatives She served all eight years as a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs, serving as its House Chair during her final term. In September 1999, she became President of the non-profit Maine Educational Loan Marketing Corporation (MELMAC). When MELMAC was sold to a for-profit corporation in January 2001, the proceeds from that sale created the MELMAC Education Foundation. Since its creation, Wendy has been the Executive Director. Wendy is a graduate of Gould Academy and Bates College. She lives in Wayne with her husband and has two children.

Stephen Brooks ’92
Brooks, Inc. 

Stephen Brooks graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington with a Bachelor Degree in Business Economics. After graduating from college, he joined his brother Mark and sister Julie at Brooks, Inc. Stephen was instrumental in helping Brooks, Inc. expand their market, which now stretches from Canada to New Jersey. He helped them grow from two stores to five locations, including four in Maine: Brooks Trap Mill, Portland Trap, Brooks Marine Supply, Downeast Trap Shack, and one in Rhode Island: Brooks Industrial Marine. Stephen is also a member of the Maine Lobsterman’s Association, Massachusetts Lobstermen’s Association, Downeast Lobstermen’s Association, Atlantic Offshore Lobstermen’s Association and he served as the president of the Rockland Lobster Boat races for three years. Stephen lives in Thomaston, Maine with his wife, Janelle, and three daughters, Sydney, Makenna and Lindsey.

Todd Chamberlain ’03

Todd Chamberlain is the Director, IT Contract Staffing for Pro Search, Inc., where he has worked since 2006. Previously, he was a healthcare recruiter with Maxim Healthcare Services from 2003-2006. He received his B.A. in Community Health from 如何赌外围 in 2003 where he was inducted into Eta Sigma Gamma, the community health honor society. Since 2012, Todd is the Founder and President of B.A.S.S.A (Beaver Alums Supporting Student Athletes), a Maine based non-profit and fundraising organization of 如何赌外围 alumni. Since 2006, Chamberlain has worked with USM Corporate Partners and also served as Chair from 2013-2015. USM Corporate Partners develops and supports partnerships between the business sector and the University of Southern Maine. Additionally, he serves on the USM Foundation Board of Directors.

Scott Conners ‘90
Landmark Partners

A 1990 Business Economics major at 如何赌外围 with Ski Industries certificate, Scott Conners earned an MBA from Penn State University and went on to a successful career at Landmark Partners, a private equity firm. Retired since July 2015, Conners is chair of the board of Hartford Youth Scholars Foundation and member of the board of the Educational Corporation of America.

Jennifer Dorman ’93

Jennifer Dorman received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Maine at Farmington with dual certifications in Elementary and Special Education. In 2008, she completed her Master’s Degree in Special Education Consultation through Lesley University. She has twenty-four years of teaching experience in MSAD #54, and is currently a special educator and reading interventionist at Skowhegan Area Middle School. Jennifer is the 2015 Maine Teacher of the Year. She serves on the Teach to Lead Maine Teacher Leadership Committee and is a past member of Educate Maine’s Board of Directors.

Lynn Farrin ’89

Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance

Lynn Farrin is a STEM Education Specialist at Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance (MMSA), where she supports classroom teachers and afterschool educators through project work, consulting and curriculum development. Since joining MMSA in January of 2004, her work has included providing professional development in science and engineering education for K-8 teachers and afterschool educators, connecting literacy to science and engineering, mentoring, and teacher leadership. Prior to joining to MMSA, Lynn taught middle school science and mathematics for 15 years, was a mentor in the Northern New England Co-mentoring Network (NNECN), and Maine State Coordinator for the NNECN project. A recipient of a state-level Presidential Award for Excellence in Secondary Science Teaching in 1999, Farrin serves on the board of the Maine Science Teachers Association (MSTA) and was the District II Director for the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) from 2012-2015. Lynn graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington with a degree in Secondary Science Education (Biology) and earned her M.Ed. in Science Education at the University of Maine.

James H. Gailey ’94
County Manager
Cumberland County, Maine

James H. Gailey ‘94 is the County Manager of Cumberland County, Maine. He began his career working for the City of South Portland, ultimately becoming City Manager in 2007. During his time in that position, Jim reorganized South Portland’s government, created a Sustainability Office and worked to develop one of the state’s first public/private municipal broadband projects. In 2016, Jim became the Assistant Manager for Cumberland County and a year later became the County Manager, overseeing 400+ employees and a 43M budget. Jim earned a B.A. in Geography from 如何赌外围 in 1994. He earned his M.A. in Public Policy and Management from the Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine in 2001, and is a Xi Class graduate of the Institute of Civic Leadership. Jim was named Manager of the Year in 2014 by the Maine Town, City and County Management Association. He is the co-creator of the state’s first regional municipal employee Leadership Academy. Jim resides in South Portland with his wife Stephanie Netto ’93 and their two sons Max and Sam.

Matt Gilbert ‘95

Matt Gilbert has been in education since 1995 starting as a special education teacher and then moving into administration. He has spent his entire career working with students in Western Maine. He has been at his current position since 2005. He is the President of the Mountain Valley Conference and serves on the Maine Principal’s Association Board of Directors. In the past he has been recognized by the Department of Education with School Climate Awards and was nominated for the MPA Principal of the Year. Away from school Matt volunteers coaching youth sports and enjoys playing music. Matt earned his master’s degree from the University of Maine. He lives happily in Jay with his wife and three children.

Eileen Kreutz

Gold LEAF Institute

After moving to Industry, Maine from Chicago in 1997, Eileen Kreutz became active with Gold LEAF Institute, the senior college at 如何赌外围 with its mission of lifelong learning. She served over the years as its curriculum chair, president, office manager, and Maine Senior College Liaison, as well as the organization’s representative on the Board of Visitors. Eileen holds a B.S. In Psychology from Loyola, but an early career in youth services led her to teaching carpentry skills to young people and to women through Chicago Women in Trades, for whom she developed the curriculum still in use today. During those years, she and her crew created many low and moderate-income housing units for a non-profit housing development corporation in Chicago. Now retired, she continues as an active Gold LEAF member and, as time allows, teaches stained glass artwork classes in her studio. She continues to serve as lake monitor on Clearwater Lake, as a regular volunteer with the Community Energy Challenge, and as a member of Encore Leadership Corps in Maine.

Miriam Leonard

Franklin Community Health Network

Miriam Leonard has worked as a health care leader over a career spanning more than 20 years and is the current chief operating officer for Franklin Community Health Network. Previously, Leonard was at Maine Medical Center, the state’s largest hospital. Starting in 1993, she assumed executive positions of increasing responsibility at Maine Med. She was named vice president of operations there in 2001 and worked for a year in 2012 as vice president of special projects before joining MaineHealth at the system level in 2013. Leonard holds a master’s degree in hospital and health administration from Xavier University in Ohio and a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of Georgia.

Jonathan Moody ’98
Assistant Superintendent of Schools

Jonathan Moody is a graduate of University of Maine at Farmington and holds a B.A. in Secondary Education. He also received his M.A. in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Maine. After years of teaching Social Studies at Dirigo High School and Messalonskee High School, Moody became the Vice Principal of Messalonskee Middle School and eventually the Principal of Messalonskee High School, serving in that role for five years. In 2016, he accepted the position of Assistant Superintendent of Schools for MSAD54 in Skowhegan, where he currently serves. Moody was inducted into the 如何赌外围 Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016 for being golf’s all-time wins leader. He lives in Oakland, ME with his wife Shelly Moody (also a 如何赌外围 graduate and 2011 Maine Teacher of the Year) and their three children.

Mark R. Shibles

A Maine native, Mark Shibles is Dean and Professor Emeritus, School of Education, University of Connecticut. During his career, he has been a counterintelligence special agent, public school teacher, university professor, university academic dean, superintendent of a university high school, a board of education member, and director of a university educational policy center. He has served in leadership positions in numerous national, state, and regional education organizations. Shibles has been a consultant to national governments, state governments, universities foundations, professional associations, regional educational agencies and many local school districts. Mark is the author of books, monographs, articles, and technical reports and holds a B.A. in History and Government from the University of Maine and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Cornell University. He resides in Wilton, Maine.

After five years teaching United States History and Government in Maine high schools, Paul worked for almost five years at MBNA America attaining the title of Senior Personal Banking Officer. In August 1999, he joined UBS Financial Services in Rockland as a licensed financial advisor and life insurance agent. He earned the designation of Certified Financial Planner in 2005. Paul lives in Rockport, Maine, with his wife Tracy and two daughters, Ellie and Sarah.
